The Story Behind Üllo

Üllo was founded by James Kornacki, Ph.D., an American chemist and inventor with a passion for enhancing the wine experience. Inspired by a family member’s sensitivity to sulphites — and knowing many others experienced headaches, stuffy nose, and next-day regret — James set out to create a solution.

With his background in chemistry from Northwestern University, he developed Selective Sulphite™ Technology, a method to remove sulphites and reduce histamines without affecting wine’s natural flavours and aromas. In 2015, Üllo launched its first product — the Original Üllo Wine Purifier — and began a global movement toward purer wine.

What Does “Üllo” Mean?

The “Ü” in Üllo is inspired by the alchemy symbol for purification, reflecting our mission to deliver wine in its purest form. Pronounced oo-low, Üllo helps wine lovers everywhere savour wine the way it was meant to be — simple, pure, and natural.
